Hey there, retro radio buffs!
Feast your eyes on this ultra-rare Cortina Transa de Luxe P17V from Norway’s Prior Radiofabrikk (Oslo), fresh off the 1960 press.
This little beauty is cloaked in a crackled beige “leatherette” fabric, with matching plastic knobs and a rubberized carry handle set in gleaming metal—pure mid-century chic. A delicate gold trim outlines the radio’s edges, adding a touch of elegant sparkle.
📜 A Glimpse into Cold-War Audio
In the post-WWII boom, Norway’s Prior Radiofabrikk A/S earned a reputation for rock-solid transistor sets. The P17V, aka “Broadcast Band,” let listeners tune into medium-wave marvels across Europe with these preset buttons (S1–S3, M, L) that still click crisply today. Pull up the telescoping whip antenna (note: the tip is missing, but reception is still stellar on “M”/AM frequencies), and you’ll hear history crackle to life.

- The batteries are not included with the radio - they are super easy to buy, the normal "D" batteries.
✔️ Condition
- Very good vintage shape with authentic patina: Slight oxidation stain spots on the grille fabric and one visible stain in the lower right side. (please check the photos)
⚠️- The tuning dial can stick at the middle of the tuning (so you will possibly hear only "half" of the stations. It stops and doesn't go to the right side of the dial screen. )
- The D-cell batteries sometimes need a light tap to settle into place (just a quick tap while the radio is on does the trick).
Otherwise, it powers up beautifully and delivers surprisingly clear, punchy sound—especially on AM.
