📜 David Frederick Spencer Winter (b. 1958, Yorkshire) first teamed up with John Hine in 1979 after creating heraldic plaques for the Hine workshop. They began producing cottages—starting with The Mill House—in a coal-shed studio behind David’s family home. Word spread fast: by 1981 they moved to Aldershot, later expanding into larger workshops in Bordon, Hampshire, and even opening a museum in Eggars Hill Barn in 1986.
Their creations won accolades worldwide: from the Queen’s Award for Export to prestigious collectible honors across the USA in the late ‘80s.

David Winter Cottages sparked a global collectors’ craze—over 200,000 members joined the US Guild, and prices once skyrocketed (a single cottage fetched US$42,000 in 1991!).

This particular piece, Market Street, was introduced in 1980, restyled in ’83, and retired in 1996.
