Kodak Brownie Starmite Camera No. 20H w/ Box | 1960s Vintage 127 Film | Made in Canada

A little rocket of mid-century design.
📸 This Kodak Brownie Starmite (No. 20H) folds the whole Star-series vibe into a compact, silver-and-grey, also beige body with the signature built-in flash. The faceplate is brushed silver with red “Kodak” and “Brownie” badges; the body is ribbed grey plastic with metal trim; the reflector is bright chrome; and there’s a clear cube finder on the front plus an eye-level rear window.

Approx. 4 in × 3½ in × 2⅜ in (10.2 × 8.9 × 6.0 cm).

✔️ Condition notes (please read)
• Untested with film or flashbulbs. Sold as a display/collectible or for a buyer who services cameras or wants to give it a try.
• Cosmetic wear consistent with age: scuffs to the flash reflector and faceplate; the metal pin at the top is corroded; wear to the back instruction label; light marks on the lens; strap present.
• The flash-battery door is a bit loose but still secured by its screw.
• Prior batteries leaked at some point, so there is corrosion on the contacts; working status of the flash is unknown.
• Inside is clean overall; the film compartment looks excellent. A loose spring was found inside the flash-battery area (included taped in the compartment).
• Original cardboard box shows heavy shelf/use wear.
• All mechanical parts are moving smoothly, including the shutter and wind knob (film knob).
• Please look at the photos.

❤️ The Starmite is part of Kodak’s wildly popular “Star” family (over 10 million Star-series cameras were made in the late 1950s–60s). It shoots 12 square 4×4 cm frames on 127 roll film; has a fixed-focus f/11 Dakon lens in front of a rotary shutter; and a simple two-position aperture lever under the lens: EV 13 (marked COLOR) for bright sun or flash, and EV 14 (marked B&W) for Verichrome Pan on sunny to hazy days. It also includes double-exposure prevention.

The built-in flash uses AG-1 bulbs (not included), and two AA (1.5 V) penlite batteries (not included).

This model was introduced in April 1960, discontinued in June 1963; 127 film, picture size 1⅝ × 1⅝ in; fixed-focus f/11 lens; rotary shutter.

The Starmite sits within the Brownie Star series, designed under Kodak stylist Arthur H. Crapsey, a line that helped bring

Our original camera box has printed “Made in Canada by Canadian Kodak Co., Limited, Toronto, Ontario”—Kodak manufactured and assembled Star-series cameras in multiple locations (U.S., U.K., and Canada) to serve regional markets in the early 1960s.

📜 George Eastman and Henry A. Strong began as the Eastman Dry Plate Company (1881). After several reorganizations, the firm became Eastman Kodak Company in 1892—the same enterprise that, decades later, launched the Brownie revolution and then the Star-series in the post-war era.
Does Kodak still exist? Yes—Kodak is today a public company focused on commercial and packaging printing, advanced materials & chemicals, and it continues to make imaging products (including motion-picture and specialty films) for the entertainment industry.

💡 Display on a bookshelf beside vintage photo books;
💡 stage it on a credenza with a stack of slides;
💡 or perch it near a turntable for that mid-century vignette.

It’s compact, graphic, and wonderfully space-age.
