"Mirror, mirror, on the... pedestal?" 🪞✨
💋 Step right into a 1970s dream with this incredibly rare and complete "Mirror Mirror" by Avon.
This is a magnificent piece of 70s design, a "fashion ball" that's as much a Pop Art sculpture as it is a functional beauty tool.
This piece is a time capsule, complete with its original, fabulous box. The packaging is a collector's item in itself!
It features a protective outer sleeve, which has kept the inner box in amazing condition.
The main box is a showstopper, shimmering with a metallic silver and white geometric op-art pattern that just screams 1970s.
📜 This "Mirror Mirror" is a perfect example of the Space Age design that dominated the 70s. Its clean, spherical shape and modular, plastic design are right out of a retro sci-fi film. During this era, Avon was transforming from a cosmetics company into a full-blown lifestyle brand, producing stunning, collectible, and highly designed objects for the home.
The box notes "AVON Products of Canada Limited - Montreal - New York," indicating this was a major North American release, not just a Canadian item.
It was a hugely successful product, but it is now exceptionally difficult to find one, especially complete with both boxes, the pedestal, and the protective foam pad.
But how does it work? It's pure 70s genius:
🤍 For travel, it's a sleek, white "half-space ball."
🤍 To use on a table, you twist off the mirror dome. Tucked right inside is the pedestal!
🤍 You simply remove the pedestal, place it hollow-side-down on your table, and rest the mirror dome on top.
🤍 The mirror itself is double-sided! Just twist the mirror unit out of the dome, reverse it, and pop it back in to switch between the regular mirror and the magnifying mirror.
🤍 The spherical shape allows it to be placed on the pedestal at just the right angle for you.
For travel, the instructions note to pack the pedestal back inside the dome with the foam pad against the mirror for protection.

✔️ This set is in very good vintage condition!
-- Mirrors: These are high-quality mirrors. The regular mirror is in excellent, clear condition! The magnified mirror is also very good, with just a few small, faint marks at the very corner from age (please see close-up photo).
-- Body: There is a faint, superficial hairline crack in the half globe.
-- Box: The outer cardboard sleeve shows age-related staining and wear. However, the inner "display" box is in fantastic shape, with its shiny silver graphics still bright and bold, showing only very light marks. The original foam pad and instructions (printed on the box flap) are all present.
This is a fantastic and rare find. It's the perfect gift for a vintage Avon collector, a lover of 70s design, or for yourself!
It will add an instant touch of retro-futuristic charm to any vanity or dresser. 🎁
