❤️ A bold mid-century pop of red from Canada!
This striking vintage ceramic vase brings that unapologetic 1960s–70s color punch to any room.
Its glossy fire-engine red glaze is crowned with expressive black brush accents around the wavy rim—very much in the spirit of West German art pottery of the era, but proudly made in Canada.
The base carries an impressed “2418 … CANADA” with a hand-written “AM” in the center, a marking style used by Canadian makers that catalogued shapes with numbers and stamped the country of origin.

After WWII, Canadian ceramics blossomed—studios and factories across B.C., Ontario and Québec mixed European modernism with local design. In Vancouver, B.C. Ceramics became known for numbered shapes finished in many décors (from nature motifs to bold abstract colorways), reflecting international trends toward vivid color and graphic surfaces. Museums note how bright combinations and abstract decoration defined the optimism of the 1950s–60s in Canadian design.
