This set includes the classic 4-cup / 1-litre batter jug and the handy 1-cup / 250 ml measure, both made of thick, clear glass with bright red graphics. They look gorgeous on an open shelf and are tough enough for everyday prep.
đ Anchor Hocking has been making glass in Lancaster, Ohio since 1905, becoming one of the big names in American kitchen glassware. In the 1940s they launched the Fire-King line, a heat-resistant glass range designed for real home kitchensâmixing bowls, casseroles, mugs, and measuring cups that could go from prep to oven. The clear glass measuring cups with bold red print became a mid-century staple and were later brought back by Anchor Hocking because people loved them so much. â¤ď¸
This set shows the classic Anchor-H monogram on the base, along with âfor cooking use onlyâ and âmicrowave safeâ wording. This combination of logo, dual imperial/metric graduations and microwave-safe note is typical of Fire-King pieces made from the late 1970s - 1980s. They are authentic Fire-King glass made in the USA, not a modern knock-off.

Together, the two cups weigh about 1.4 kg (3.1 lb) of solid glass goodness.
âď¸ Both measuring cups are in excellent vintage condition. The red graphics are strong and easy to read, the rims are smooth, and there are no chips or cracks. Youâll see only very light surface marks from gentle use, so light that at first glance they look almost unused.
On the large jug, the base shows a few dark specks and tiny dots sealed inside the glass. These are not dirt you can feel or clean; theyâre part of the glass from the manufacturing processâlittle bubbles and inclusions that collectors love because they signal older, thicker glass production rather than ultra-uniform modern pieces. The bodies of both cups also show small bubbles, giving them that lovely âvintage kitchen treasureâ personality rather than a mass-produced big-box look.
â Both are microwave-safe and made for cooking use. Always avoid sudden temperature shocks (straight from freezer to hot oven, etc.) to keep your glass happy for decades more.
âThe large jug is perfect as a batter bowl for pancakes, cakes, or Yorkshire puddingâmix, microwave butter, then pour cleanly from the generous spout.
