☀️ Both sets are made in Japan and carry the original “The Art of Chokin – 24K Gold Edged – Made in Japan” labelling.
The centrepiece of each plate and box lid is especially lovely.
According to the original manufacturer label, the images were created by etching pure copper and then gilding the engraving with silver and gold, while the surrounding edges are finished with 24K gold.😍
The result changes wonderfully with the light: the textured silver background contrasts with warm copper, soft rose tones, dark engraved details and bright reflective gold.
🌺 Option 1 – Flowers features two large white blossoms with warm pink/copper centers surrounded by long dark leaves and delicate gold accents.
🦢Option 2 – Swans shows two elegant swans floating through a waterside landscape with flowering irises/reeds, picked out in silver, copper and gold tones.
📜 A little history
Chōkin is a genuine Japanese metal-chasing and engraving tradition with a very long history. Metal engraving techniques were used in Japan centuries ago to decorate objects including swords, armor and fittings, and during later periods the craft expanded into jewelry, smoking accessories and other decorative household objects.
These collectible porcelain pieces are a later decorative adaptation of that tradition, produced in Japan for the export and giftware market. They were made in the late 20th century.
The little plate is especially attractive displayed on a stand, while the covered box is perfect for rings, earrings, small jewelry, keepsakes or simply as a decorative vanity box.

✔️ Condition
🌺 Option 1 – Flowers: Good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The lid of the box shows a few marks from previous use, and there is some localized discoloration/wear to the gold finish. Please look carefully at the close-up photographs, as they form part of the condition description.
🦢 Option 2 – Swans: Very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing, showing only light signs of previous use.
These are vintage decorative pieces, and minor age-related surface marks may be visible when examined closely.
