❤️ Meet Barnaby Jr., a cheerful little snowman who seems to be flying home with some very special passengers!
This delightful vintage 1998 figurine, “Barnaby Jr. ... Homeward Bound,” comes from The Boyds Collection's Carvers Choice series.
With his long blue winter hat, rosy cheeks, carrot nose, and bright red coat, Barnaby stretches his arms forward to carefully carry a little bird's nest containing two eggs.
Three adorable white birds have settled along his hat, apparently enjoying the journey!
One of the most beautiful features of this figurine is its remarkable imitation of hand-carved wood. Although made from painted resin, the entire sculpture has been carefully designed with visible knife marks, irregular carving facets, and textured surfaces that beautifully reproduce the character of traditional wooden folk art.
The slightly distressed-looking painted finish adds warmth and personality to every detail.
And there's a fun surprise: Barnaby actually spins! 😍 The figurine comes in two pieces, with the flying snowman fitting onto the decorative pedestal through a connecting rod.
Give him a gentle turn, and he rotates above the base, creating the charming illusion of a little snowman flying through the air.
The pedestal is equally lovely, decorated with snowflakes, stars, a little Christmas tree, and a compass-style base featuring the four cardinal directions: North, South, East, and West.
A wonderful detail that perfectly complements the figurine's name, Homeward Bound.

Produced in 1998 by The Boyds Collection Ltd., this figurine belongs to the Carvers Choice line, known for its sculpted, woodcarving-inspired appearance.
Boyds was an American collectibles company that became especially popular during the 1980s and 1990s for its teddy bears, resin figures, and imaginative decorative collectibles.
This particular piece is officially identified as Barnaby Jr. ... Homeward Bound, Style #370101.
The underside retains the original manufacturer's markings, including the Carvers Choice name, edition identification, 1998 copyright, and “Handmade in China.”
It also features a thoughtful quotation attributed to George Bernard Shaw about how we all depend on one another.
🤍 There's also a lovely touch of Christmas symbolism in Barnaby's little adventure.
In a European holiday tradition often associated with Germany, a bird's nest in the Christmas tree is considered a symbol of good fortune, happiness, and a loving home. The eggs represent new life and hope.
Although we don't know whether this tradition inspired the original design, it fits beautifully with Barnaby's story. Carrying a precious nest while three little birds accompany him, he travels above a compass marked North, South, East, and West. And with a name like Homeward Bound, it's easy to imagine him helping his feathered friends find their way home.
Even the George Bernard Shaw quotation printed beneath the base, reminding us how much we depend on one another, seems perfectly suited to this charming little scene.
