🤍 A lovely piece of English pottery history!

This antique gravy boat was made by John Maddock & Sons Ltd. of Burslem, Staffordshire, England, under the company's well-known Royal Vitreous name.

This beautiful piece belongs to the MAD7 dinnerware pattern. Its distinctive decoration features a black floral band filled with tiny pink roses, white daisy-like blossoms and green leaves, beautifully complemented by delicate gold trim.

It has a wonderfully elegant curved silhouette, with a generous pouring spout, graceful loop handle and rounded body resting on a small pedestal foot.

The glossy white ceramic and charming floral border give it a timeless English cottage style, perfect for antique table settings or vintage kitchen decor.

The MAD7 pattern was produced across a range of matching dinnerware, including plates, cups, serving bowls, teapots, creamers and gravy boats.

For anyone collecting or replacing pieces of this particular John Maddock & Sons pattern, this gravy boat could be a lovely addition to an existing set.

Originally intended for serving gravy and sauces, it would also be beautiful for salad dressings, special-occasion dinners or simply as a decorative piece displayed in a china cabinet.

📜 John Maddock & Sons was an established Staffordshire pottery manufacturer based in Burslem, one of the historic centres of England's ceramics industry. The pottery business developed through the 19th century, eventually becoming John Maddock & Sons Ltd. in 1896.

The company became known for its extensive production of dinnerware, tea ware and other ceramics, including the Royal Vitreous line. Historical trade advertisements document Royal Vitreous wares being promoted internationally during the early 1900s.

This gravy boat bears the original crowned John Maddock & Sons Ltd. Royal Vitreous backstamp, confirming its English origin and establishing that it was manufactured from 1896 - 1906.

A charming survivor of the English pottery tradition, combining everyday usefulness with delicate decoration and over a century of Staffordshire manufacturing history.
